A family holiday in Wismar

The old town with its ancient monuments and Harbour brings history to life. Bruno is the star of the 3D movie “Bruno Backstein” which describes the arduous red-brick construction process and can be enjoyed by visiting the church of St. Marien. Here everybody can see how lumps of clay were transformed into bricks, how they were moulded, pressed and baked in an oven at 1000°C. Walls, pillars, gates and archways were built using millions of these simple bricks. Visit the medieval building site to make bricks yourself or turn the enormous treadwheel.

Wismar is a small town with plenty to offer, and most sights or leisure activities are within walking or cycling distance.
Visit the lovely beaches along the Baltic coast and don’t miss the seaside activities which take place all year round.

If you’re travelling with children, make sure you visit the Bürgerpark, and the wildlife park next door to see farm animals and wild animals alike. Not to be missed here is the water park and adventure playground which are great fun for all ages.

On rainy days, go to the Bauernscheune- an old farmhouse with an indoor playground, or visit the swimming pool- Wonnemar -which offers a large selection of activities for all the family; water slides, modern indoor and outdoor pools, a spa area, sauna, fitness studios and a poolside restaurant.
